David Ulevitch is a General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), where he leads the firm's American Dynamism practice. David is passionate about investing in companies that advance the national interest – spanning sectors like national security, aerospace, housing, education, public safety, and logistics. His notable investments include Anduril, Flock Safety, Skydio, Air Space Intelligence, Supermove, Wingspan, and others.
Before joining a16z, David founded OpenDNS, a cloud-based security company acquired by Cisco for $635 million. He later led Cisco's global security business as Senior Vice President and General Manager. Earlier in his career, he founded EveryDNS, which became the world's largest free DNS service before being acquired by Dyn (now Oracle).
David holds a BA in Anthropology from Washington University in St. Louis, a degree he found much more useful than he expected, and where he now serves on the Board of Trustees. He is also a member of the Council on Global Competition and Innovation (CGCI) and the Board of Directors of the 92nd Street Y in New York City, one of the country's most influential cultural and community institutions. Deeply committed to philanthropy and community service, he supports youth development and the arts. He and his family split their time between New York City and Big Sky, Montana.
David is married to Stephanie Nass Ulevitch. Because she's incredible, in so many ways, their wedding was featured in Vogue.
